Deputy PM Phạm Bình Minh extends congratulation to the UN Day of Vesak 2019

Deputy Prime Minister cum Foreign Minister Phạm Bình Minh has sent a message of congratulation to the UN Day of Vesak 2019.

In the message, while extending congratulations and greetings of friendship to Buddhist delegates and guests to the UN Day of Vesak 2019, the Deputy PM stated that Vietnamese people would warmly welcome the UN Buddhist event to be held in the country for the third time.

The Deputy PM regarded the UN Day of Vesak 2019 as an important Buddhist event as well as a pride for Vietnamese Buddhists and people.

He also expressed hope that given the main theme "Buddhist Approach to Global Leadership and Shared Responsibility for Sustainable Societies”, the UN Vesak 2019 would help promoting core values of Buddhism for addressing current global challenges, as well as strengthening the friendship and cooperation between peoples and cultures, and work together for bringing the good values ​​of Buddhism into the current societies.

The UN Day of Vesak 2019 slated for May 12-14 in 2019 at the Tam Chuc pagoda complex located in the Vietnam Northern province of Ha Nam.

The event is expected to attract 1,500 Buddhist dignitaries and scholars from 105 countries and territories worldwide, and about 15,000 domestic and foreign Buddhist followers.
