Traffic Police Force make special effort to ensure traffic safety and order for UN Vesak 2019
MPS - The Department of Traffic Police organized a conference to roll out plans to ensure traffic order and safety for the United Nations Day of Vesak 2019.
An overview of the conference.
The main theme of Vesak this year is “Buddhist Approach to Global Leadership and Shared Responsibilities for Sustainable Societies”. It will be the third time Vesak will have been held in Vietnam. The event is expected to attract 1,500 religious dignitaries, researchers, scientists, and managers from countries and territories worldwide, as well as about 10,000 Vietnamese delegates and 100,000 Buddhist followers and people.

The Traffic Police Department and various police units have developed and carried out plans to ensure traffic order and safety, and guide high-ranking delegations of the Party and State as well as high-ranking international delegates. Functional forces have carefully surveyed the local traffic situation and prepared plans to prevent and solve all unexpected traffic issues which may negatively impact this important event.
Speaking at the conference held in Ha Nam on May 6, Lieutenant General Vu Do Anh Dung, Director of the Traffic Police Department, asked all police officers in charge of ensuring order and security during this year’s Vesak to well perform their duties. He also suggested organizing drills in tacking various incidents to ensure that this year’s Vesak will take place absolutely safely and successfully.
On the same day, Lieutenant General Vu Do Anh Dung also chaired a ceremony to launch a drill in ensuring traffic order and safety on routes to Ha Nam, and checked the assigned police force’s preparations at Tam Chuc Pagoda.
